Your Journey Timeline
The Journey Timeline is a visual, chronological record of your entire transition. It brings together milestones, reflections, photos, and key events into a single, scrollable view so you can see how far you have come.
What Appears on Your Timeline
Your timeline automatically gathers events from across Gender Journey:
- HRT milestones — When you started or changed hormone therapy.
- Voice training sessions — Key voice recordings and training progress.
- Surgery events — Scheduled and completed surgical procedures.
- Provider changes — New referrals, clinic transfers, and provider updates.
- Photos — Selected photos from My Photos that mark visual changes.
- Custom milestones — Any personal event you choose to record.
Adding Milestones
To add a milestone:
- Open Journey Timeline from the main navigation.
- Tap the Add Milestone button.
- Choose a milestone type (pre-defined or custom).
- Set the date and add an optional note, reflection, or photo.
- Save — the milestone appears in chronological order on your timeline.
Pre-defined milestone types include: Started HRT, Came Out, Name Change, First Voice Training, Surgery Scheduled, Surgery Completed, and more. You can also create fully custom milestones for events that are unique to your journey.
Timeline Reflections
Reflections are journal-like entries you can attach to any point on your timeline. They are a way to capture how you felt at a particular moment — something you can look back on later.
To add a reflection, tap any milestone or date on the timeline and select Add Reflection. Write freely; reflections are private by default.
Anniversaries
Gender Journey automatically generates anniversary markers for your milestones. For example, if you added a "Started HRT" milestone, you will see a one-year anniversary appear on that date the following year. These gentle reminders help you celebrate your progress.
Customising Your Timeline
In Timeline Settings, you can choose which event types to show or hide. If you prefer a minimal view with only major milestones, you can filter out smaller events. You can also choose whether provider changes and photos appear on the timeline.
Tips for Getting the Most from Your Timeline
- Add milestones as they happen — It is easier to capture the moment than to remember details later.
- Attach photos — Visual markers make your timeline more meaningful over time.
- Write reflections — Even a sentence or two can be powerful to revisit months down the line.
- Review regularly — Scrolling through your timeline is a great way to recognise your progress, especially on difficult days.
