Getting Started with Voice Training

My Voice helps you track your vocal progress throughout your transition with recordings, pitch analysis, and AI-powered training assistance. This feature requires a Cracking or Hatched subscription.

Recording Your First Voice Sample

To create your first recording:

  1. Navigate to My Voice from the sidebar.
  2. Click Record to open the recording interface.
  3. Grant microphone permission when prompted by your browser.
  4. Click the record button and speak naturally for at least five seconds — reading a passage aloud works well.
  5. Click stop when you are finished.
  6. Review the recording and click Save.

For the most accurate pitch analysis, record in a quiet environment with minimal background noise. Try to use the same microphone and recording conditions each time for consistent results.

Understanding Your Pitch

After saving a recording, My Voice automatically analyses the pitch (fundamental frequency) of your voice. Your results will show:

  • Average pitch in Hz — The central frequency of your voice during the recording.
  • Pitch range — The minimum and maximum frequencies detected, showing how much your pitch varies.
  • Pitch graph — A visual representation of your pitch across the duration of the recording.

Gender-typical pitch ranges are displayed for reference:

  • Feminine range: 160–300 Hz
  • Androgynous range: 120–180 Hz
  • Masculine range: 80–150 Hz

These ranges are guidelines, not rules. Your goal is to find a pitch that feels comfortable and authentic to you.

Organising Your Recordings

You can manage your voice recordings by:

  • Categorising recordings with tags to group them by exercise type or context.
  • Comparing recordings over time to hear how your voice has changed.
  • Deleting recordings you no longer need.

All your recordings appear on a timeline so you can track your progress at a glance.

Integrations

My Voice connects with other Gender Journey features:

  • My Diary — Attach voice recordings to diary entries to capture how you sound alongside how you feel.
  • My Connect — Optionally share voice recordings in posts to celebrate milestones with your community.
