Getting Started with Voice Training
My Voice helps you track your vocal progress throughout your transition with recordings, pitch analysis, and AI-powered training assistance. This feature requires a Cracking or Hatched subscription.
Recording Your First Voice Sample
To create your first recording:
- Navigate to My Voice from the sidebar.
- Click Record to open the recording interface.
- Grant microphone permission when prompted by your browser.
- Click the record button and speak naturally for at least five seconds — reading a passage aloud works well.
- Click stop when you are finished.
- Review the recording and click Save.
For the most accurate pitch analysis, record in a quiet environment with minimal background noise. Try to use the same microphone and recording conditions each time for consistent results.
Understanding Your Pitch
After saving a recording, My Voice automatically analyses the pitch (fundamental frequency) of your voice. Your results will show:
- Average pitch in Hz — The central frequency of your voice during the recording.
- Pitch range — The minimum and maximum frequencies detected, showing how much your pitch varies.
- Pitch graph — A visual representation of your pitch across the duration of the recording.
Gender-typical pitch ranges are displayed for reference:
- Feminine range: 160–300 Hz
- Androgynous range: 120–180 Hz
- Masculine range: 80–150 Hz
These ranges are guidelines, not rules. Your goal is to find a pitch that feels comfortable and authentic to you.
Organising Your Recordings
You can manage your voice recordings by:
- Categorising recordings with tags to group them by exercise type or context.
- Comparing recordings over time to hear how your voice has changed.
- Deleting recordings you no longer need.
All your recordings appear on a timeline so you can track your progress at a glance.
